Introducing scar management and Dermatix products
Caused by accident, surgery and even diseases, scars are a natural part of the healing process. Scars occur as the wound heals and the skin is repaired and are influenced by 3 factors:
- Genetics (skin types)
- Location on the body
Regardless of where the scar is or even how old it is, they can sometimes have distressing side effects, such as: depression, social anxiety, avoidance, and generally low self-esteem.
The good news is that you do not have to wait for time to improve your scars. Dermatix available in a range of silicone based products is clinically proven to significantly improve the appearance of scars. Suitable for established and new scars, Dermatix even reduces scarring following surgery, burns and other injuries. Dermatix is available in two forms: as a silicone gel and as silicone sheets (both clear and fabric backed). Silicone is the most frequently used non-invasive treatment in scar management.
Dermatix is now available on the NHS as well as through online ordering and from your local pharmacist. It is supplied in a 15g tube and can be obtained with or without a prescription. A 60g tube is available for those who have larger scars. Dermatix is also supplied as a sheet (clear or fabric) in four different sizes.
What Is DermatixTM
DermatixTM Ultra Advanced Scar Treatment is a transparent, fast-drying silicone gel with unique qualities to make it ideally suited to help minimize or reduce signs and symptoms of abnormal scaring and aid in the development of hypertrophic scarring after surgery.
DermatixTM Ultra is effective for the reduction of hypertrophic and keloid scars. It has also been successfully used for the treatment of scars resulting from trauma, burns and general surgical procedures.
DermatixTM Ultra has been shown to flatten, soften and smooth scars, relieving itching and discomfort. Silicone gels have consistently been shown to be well tolerated and suitable for both children and adults.
DermatixTM Ultra uses a new silicone technology that produces a film on the skin, providing skin protection in an esthetically acceptable manner, unique to other available scar gels. This new silicone technology imparts a soft silky feel to the skin, without any oily residue or buildup. Dermatix Ultra can be used under makeup and clothing.
How Does It Work
Always wait until the wound is healed or the wound site is closed. The affected area should be washed and dried thoroughly (usually twice per day). DermatixTM Ultra should be applied as a thin film once, twice or as many times per day as recommended by the doctor. Once dry (about 3-4 minutes) you can cover with clothing or make-up. One 30 gm tube of DermatixTM Ultra used twice per day on a scar 5-7 inches long should last 60-90 days.
Scars shape lives
If you, or someone you know, has a scar you’re probably only too aware how distressing and disfiguring they can be, and just how seriously they can undermine self-confidence.
Any scar, regardless of its size or location, can be perceived as a personal problem. Some may learn to accept their scar, but many never forget it. It is widely accepted by psychologists that proactively treating to reduce the visibility of a scar can actually help boost self-esteem.
Most people are unaware that there are treatments available to improve the appearance of scars, both established and new. While existing scar remodelling and prevention procedures can be painful, invasive, hard to use or have limited efficacy, Silicone is the first choice for a convenient treatment of your scars. It dramatically improves scars – and it is recommended by leading specialists worldwide.
